Illustrator is just abominable at 3D. There’s some simple tools in there, but even they work highly shittily. Just some stupid revolve shapes like this—it fucks them up.
But that’s OK. Illustrator shouldn’t be a 3D drawing tool. Adobe should make another piece of software that does it. Something where a person who’s spent years and years working with Illustrator and Photoshop could pick it up and get the hang of using it.
They also should be working on the rest of their mountain of shit, but aw, that’s real people working on it. I’ve just hurt their feelings. Sorry. It’s not you, it’s your goddamn company.
